What are Hastelloy Bolts ?
Hastelloy bolts are a type of bolt made from nickel-based nickel-chromium or nickel-chromium-molybdenum alloy materials. These special nickel alloy bolts are highly resistant to corrosion and thermal stability, making them ideal for use in high-temperature environments.

Raw Material of Hastelloy Bolts
The Hastelloy materials are mainly divided into B series, C series, and G series, and we’ll highlight the most commonly used types of Hastelloy bolts.
Hastelloy Bolts B-2
B-2 Bolts are solid solution nickel-molybdenum alloy bolts that are highly resistant to corrosion.
Hastelloy Bolts B-2 Properties
- Controls iron and chromium at low levels, preventing the formation of the beta phase Ni4Mo.
- Excellent corrosion resistance to reducing environments.
Good resistance to moderate concentrations of sulphuric acid and many non-oxidizing acid corrosion.
Very good resistance to chloride ion reduction stress corrosion cracking (SCC). – Excellent resistance to corrosion by various organic acids.
C276 Hastelloy Bolts
C276 Hastelloy Bolts are nickel-molybdenum-chromium forged alloy bolts with excellent resistance to many of the most severe media.
Hastelloy Bolts C-276 is a modified version of Hastelloy C with improved machinability and excellent resistance to many of the most severe media encountered in chemical processing.
Screws C276 belong to high-temperature resistant screws, with a working temperature range of about -200 to 400 ℃.
Nickel Alloy C276 Bolts
C-276 Hastelloy Bolts are harder than ordinary stainless steel screws. It is an important nickel-based corrosion-resistant material that contains about 16% of Mo and Cr elements, which gives it a strong resistance to oxidizing and reducing media. It is also known as a general-purpose corrosion-resistant alloy.
Nickel Alloy Bolts is highly effective in various corrosive environments, including electrochemical corrosion and chemical corrosion, and can withstand a variety of forms of corrosion damage, including uniform corrosion, local corrosion stress corrosion, and more.
Alloy C bolt also has excellent mechanical properties and processing performance, making it particularly suitable for use in chemical manufacturing, power plants, paper, marine development, and other areas with harsh media environments.
C276 fasteners are considered one of the world’s most widely used nickel-based corrosion-resistant alloys
Hastelloy Bolts C-276 Properties and Applications
Alloy C-276 has excellent corrosion resistance to most corrosive media in both oxidized and reduced states.
It is highly resistant to pitting, crevice corrosion, and stress corrosion cracking. The alloy is suitable for use in a variety of chemical process industries containing oxidizing and reducing media.
Higher levels of molybdenum and chromium make the alloy resistant to chloride ions, and tungsten further enhances its corrosion resistance.
Fasteners material hastelloy C-276 is one of only a few materials known to be resistant to corrosion from moist chlorine, hypochlorite, and chlorine dioxide solutions, and the alloy exhibits significant corrosion resistance to highly chlorinated salts (e.g., ferric chloride and copper chloride).
Hastelloy Bolts Hot Working Process
Due to the high strength and toughness of Hastelloy material, and Hastelloy’s strong tendency to strain cold work hardening, it is critical to strictly control the temperature of each hot working process and heat treatment in the manufacture of special material fasteners
This is to avoid micro-cracks in the process of cold drawing of special material round steel to the required outer diameter and in the process of hot forging and forming of hexagonal bolts.
C276 Hex Hastelloy Bolts
Once C276 Hex Hastelloy Bolts develop microcracks, they gradually expand when used in alternating hot and cold states and under tensile stress, eventually breaking in a short time of use.
Therefore, it is especially important to strictly control each hot working process in the entire manufacturing process. This makes the requirements for manufacturing high-quality hexagon head bolts of special materials particularly high.
Ding Fasteners produces Hastelloy bolts and nuts with all-grade material, we have powerful raw material suppliers with huge stocks of Hastelloy rods, some are made in the USA, and some are imported from the European market, and most of them are made in China.
